Fed: Stott Despoja says she wants to lead party
Australian Democrats leader NATASHA STOTT DESPOJA says she wants to continue to leadthe party with the support of her colleagues.
Senator STOTT DESPOJA is facing a meeting this morning with fellow senators at ParliamentHouse, tipped to pressure her to introduce a reform package or step aside.
Four Democrat senators are reportedly demanding that a 10-point reform package be introducedafter the resignation of former leader MEG LEES and public criticism by Senator ANDREWMURRAY.
Senator STOTT DESPOJA'S office has confirmed the meeting will be held at 8.15am (AEST)and that the leader wants to remain in the top job.
Senator STOTT DESPOJA'S spokeswoman says her preference is to lead the party with hercolleagues' support.
The Democrats have battled party room squabbles in recent months, culminating withthe resignation of Senator LEES, now an Independent, and public protests by Senator MURRAY.
