NSW: Police investigation into drive by shooting
A young Sydney woman is in a serious condition after she was shot in the stomach during
a drive-by shooting while standing on the verandah of her parent's home last night.
Police say the 26-year-old woman was talking to friends and a relative on the balcony
of the single storey property in Noel Street, Marayong, around 7.30pm (AEDT) when she
was shot.
The shot is believed to have been fired from a green HQ or HZ Holden which passed by
around the same time as neighbours heard a loud bang.
Police say they haven't yet established a motive for the attack and have issued a plea
for witnesses to come forward with information.
A police spokesman says it's unclear whether the woman had been targeted or if it was
a random attack.
He says a major search has so far failed to locate the car but it's hoped more witnesses
will come forward over the next few days.
