NSW: Hearing date set for Barry AVO case
A Sydney court has been told a businessman's bid to keep a violence restraining order
in place against veteran reporter PAUL BARRY is a very serious matter against a journalist
doing his job.
Last month, JIM BYRNES was granted an interim Apprehended Violence Order against BARRY,
who had been been trying to interview him for the Nine network's A Current Affair.
BARRY has said Mr BYRNES agreed to an interview, but pulled out just half an hour before filming.
The matter appeared before Newtown local court today, with BARRY'S solicitor seeking
an expedited hearing date.
Mr O'BRIEN told the court the case is a very serious matter against a journalist doing his job.
He says the matters are hotly in dispute.
BARRY wasn't in court today.
The case has been adjourned to the Downing Centre Local Court on March the 25th for
a decision on whether the interim order should remain in place.
